1.Jeffrey Dahmer

He was known as an American serial killer from Milwaukee. He had not only murdered at least 17 men and boys after luring them to his apartment but also rape, necrophilia, dismemberment and cannibalism. He had cut their body into pieces brutally and kept their skulls as mementos. He also confessed that he used to eat parts of his victims as food. His final intended victim had managed to escape and he was caught. Actually his victim run from his grip and began to run desperately down the road. A police patrol car was going down that way fortunately. In his apartment the police discovered something very disturbing. Several corpses were stored in acid-filled vats, severed heads were found in his refrigerator. Dahmer was sentenced to nine hundred years in jail, but he wished for his own death and was found dead in his prison cell in 1994.

2.Javed Iqbal Mughal

A serial killer from Lahore, Pakistan, Javed Iqbal Mughal his nick name Mukri was professed to have killed more than a hundred boys before having sex with them. In June 1998 he was supposed to go to prison because he initially sexually abused two minor boys. After serving a very short time in prison he was let off on bail. It was then that the murderous rage took over. Iqbal used to find boys on the street, charmed them into his confidence, and then drugged, raped, and strangled and dismembered their bodies. Then he put them in a vat filled with hydrochloric acid to dissolve them. He would then dump the remains in the public sewers. As personal mementos he used to keep the clothes and shoes of his victims. He showed no remorse at his sentencing. He confessed, “I am Javed Iqbal, killer of 100 children. I hate this world. I am not ashamed of my action and I am ready to die. I have no regrets. I killed 100 children.”

3.Richard Chase

Richard Chase was an American serial killer. According to his belief that the Nazis were turning his blood into powder by poison they had planted below his soap dish. That’s why he was continually afraid of running out of blood. He took bath in the blood of his victim to which he shoots. After killing the victim had sex with the dead body. He killed a large number of small children; he drank their blood and ate their internal organs. Eventually he was arrested and sentenced to the gas chamber. However he was found to have committed suicide in prison, on 26th December 1980.

4.Robert Black

Robert Black who was a van driver from UK, discovered that his job as a van driver gave him chance to visit and observe all kinds of places and this job was perfect for an aspiring serial killer. His especial task was little girls. Though he has been convicted of killing four of them from 1981 to 1986, but police was sure that he had killed many more. He used to grab the little girls from on the road or suitable locales when nobody was looking. Days later their bodies would surface, mutilated and miles away from where they had been snatched or caught. I 1990 he was caught at the time of spotting bundling a six year old girl into his van. He is currently serving prison term and will likely never be released.

5.Henry Lee Lucas

The most prolific serial killer of America is Henry Lee Lucas. At least 350 people were killed by him in a span of twenty years, but later his through his confessions it was revealed that he actually murdered more than 600 victims. After he murdered his own mother he spent ten years in jail. He was eventually released due to overcrowding in jail, and when he got out, he became a drifter and made friends with Ottis Toole. Later on in more than 108 murders Toole became his accomplice. Due to natural causes in the year 2001he died in prison.

6.Ted Bundy

Ted Bundy who is known as a very notorious killer was described to be a very charismatic and friendly guy. There is the twisted mind of a serial killer behind this personality. In the United States, he was just four years when he was able to kidnap and kill 30 young women. He used to pretend an authority figure or a disabled person to allure his victims. Another technique to kill his prey he just break into the homes of his victims and stab them to death while they were sleeping. Ehen his victims got dead he rape and dismember his victims keeping their heads as souvenirs. Finally in the year 1979 he was arrested and in 1989 was sentenced to death penalty by electric chair.

7.Collin Ireland

A former British soldier named Collin Ireland decided to become a serial killer one fine day. He thought that it is easy to make victim those persons who are homosexual men because of their loose and flamboyant lifestyles and went after them. He turned all their family picture frames on the mantelpiece towards the wall so that they would not witness the crime before killing his victims. With increasing number of his murders he grew in confidence and decided to call the Scotland Yard Police, taunting them to catch him. Theatre director Peter Walker was his first victim. Before strangling him he stripped him naked and tied him to the bed. He called the police to alert them to the crime before leaving his residence. Before the law caught up with him he got away with five murders. From a gay club he had picked up his latest victim, Emmanuel Spiteri. He was finally tracked down by footage of both of them crossing the street surfaced on CCTV footage. The more pathetic thing about him was that he had strangled the pet cat of one of his victims Andrew Collier while in the process of murdering him.

8.Gary Leon Ridgway

It was Gary Leon Ridgway also known as Green River Killer who strangled about 71 women in a span of 8-10 years. In the Green River his first five victims were found, thus the nickname “Green River Killer. Prostitutes were the main prey of Ridgway. He picked up prostitutes and then strangles them. Until he was finally caught in the year 2001 he managed to escape the authorities.

9.Aileen Carol Wuornos

There are only a few females who have found comfort in being serial killers and Aileen Carol Wuornos is one of them. Actually she spent her whole life in neglecting and abuses. At the age of 15 she got pregnant and she had an incestuous relationship with her own brother. Wuornos fell in love with a woman and by becoming a prostitute she began to support her. She killed seven men, who were trying to hurt and harm her during their sexual encounters during her years in this business. She was arrested and sentenced to death with penalty through lethal injection.

10.Andrei Romanovich Chikatilo

Though Andrei Romanovich Chikatilo was born in the Ukraine but come before us to be a Soviet killer. “The Rostov Ripper”, “Butcher of Rostov” and “Red Ripper” were his famous nicknames. He killed at least 52 children and women according to records, in a span of 12 years. Nine-year old girl was Chikatilo’s first victim., He also realized during this incident that how he could experience sexual gratification by slashing and stabbing children and women to death. As there was never enough evidence to put him there for good so he was in and out of jail. Chikatilo was eventually caught in the year 1990, and confessed to the murder of 36 people with the authorities’ undying effort to unlock those murder mysteries. In the year 1992 he was convicted with 52 counts of murder.

The main reason of serial killing is usually based on psychological gratification. Sexual involvement with the victim is found in most of the killings, but the FBI states that motives for serial murder include “anger, thrill, financial gain, and attention seeking”.
